What Could Be The Cause Of Extended Period? Is It Normal?

Hi. I leave on vacation jan 6th. Am taking micron or to regulate my period. Not worried about pregnancy as my husband has had a vasectomy. Got my latest period last Thursday (dec 5th) and it seemed like it had run it's course Tuesday but then Wed it seems like I have started a full new period. I didn't miss a pill and I haven't experienced any issues in the last few months since I started taking this pill (sept 2013). If this is the way my periods are going to be it means I will be on my period my full vacation in January which is not desirable. Wondering if:
1) this is normal
2) I should go off the pill now so it doesn't happen next month while I'm on vacation
3) what will happen with my period if I go off the pill now? Or would it be better for me to take it for another week ior so and then go off it and get my period early before my vacation.
Thanks.

Hello ma'am and welcome.

1) This would be normal, but it shouldn't happen all the time. The hormones ca influence and regulate a repeat shedding of the endometrium every now and then
2. Do not discontinue the pills and speak to your prescribing doctor who should give you a suitable solution for the same
3. You should continue the pill for the required course and speak to your doctor who will advise you accordingly

Hope this helps.

Best wishes.
