Hi there,
I would say continue with the dietary measures and low salt intake. The normal BP should be less than 140/90mmHg.In his case, it is only a mild increase, which I feel can be controlled by lifestyle modifications. Low salt intake, No added salt at the table, no pickles, no papad. Use Olive oil for cooking and with salads. Have plenty of green leafy vegetables. Avoid deep fried, fatty food, red meat. Regular exercise 30 minutes a day 5 days a week is a must. Join yoga/
meditation classes to help you relax.Food rich in potassium is good for
high BP like tomatoes, bananas etc.
Keep monitoring his BP regularly. Try these lifestyle modifications. Even after 1 month , if it is persistently high, he will need
anti-hypertensive medication. Best to get a complete blood check up, since he is 40. Tests like FBS,PPBS(fasting and post prandial blood sugars),RFT,LFT, FLP(Fasting
Lipid Profile),ECG.
Hope I've answered your question satisfactorily.
Have a nice day :)
