What Could Be The Life Expectancy Of A Lady With CHF, High BP And Diabetes?

My mother is 69 years old, was recently admitted to ICU for CHF , she has diabetes, high blood pressure and cholesterol. The doctors told her that her heart is at 20% and I was just wondering what s her life expectancy since she s never knew she had CHF?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi there.
Firstly I wish your mother a speedy recovery.
See it is hard to predict the life expectancy with limited details as one needs to take into account the kidney status , lung status , blood pressure and sugar control prior to the illness etc to predict.
One also needs to see the extent of the damage done by Congestive Heart Failure and how the patient responds to therapy. Also Coronary angiography will help to see if any vessel narrowing is present and to see if it is correctible.

Hope this helps.
