What Could Be The Life Expectancy Of An Aged Person With Congestive Heart, COPD And Cancer?
Hi -I have a 93 yr old dad who has been in a re-hab/nursing home. The doctor wants to send him home and for us to get hospice. He has congestive heart, copd, bladder cancer, renal failure stage 4, and now (pneumonia)? My first question is does this sound right to send him home with pneumonia. Then based on all the things that are wrong with him, does it sound like he is near the end ? I want to take family leave and can only take it for 3months.
I am Dr.Nitasha Khan. I have read you question completely, i understand your concern and will try to help you in best way possible. its not advisable to take him home if he has oneumonia as it is an active disease and has to be treated actively with antibiotics if thats treated and his vitals are stable he can go home ....life expectancy with so many diseases is naturally very low but its written pre hand when a person wil die or live maybe a year or maybe less.....if you are getting 3 monthd leave i wil advise you to tale it in parts
I hope this answered your question. If you have more queries I am happy to answer.Otherwise rate and close the discussion
