What Could Be The Normal Amount Of Urine That Could Be Passed In A Day?

Hi, my mother had renal failure in hospital about 8 yrs ago after bowel cancer operations which left her with compromised kidney function & had a bag attached to take away her fecal products. She is in her early 80 s & her GP is concerned her function is slowly deteriorating. She has given up drinking alcohol advised by her GP but asked me how much urine should she be passing daily. She measured it the other day & had only passed about 1 litre. What would be a normal amount to pass for an elderly woman about 48kgs who drinks plenty of fluid? Thank you. Regards, Laurie.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
dear,
it appears that ur mother had a post operative renal dysfunctiomning ,
as we know with advancing age renal functions decreases in normal fellow also, normal urine production in adult is arounf 1.5 to 2 lt per days and this may vary according to fluid intake and other body parameters,
as far as ur mother is concerned, 1 ltr in 24 hrs is a near normal value but u have keep her body well hydrated and look for symptoms of dehydration like restlessness and breathlessness , weak pulse or decrease response.
if they are well within normal limit, u need not to worry for now but if production decreases progressively go for blood ix and consult a physician
thanks.
hope ur queries answered
