Hello. Last December I took myself to the ER because I was having a very unpleasant feeling near my vagina. It is hard to describe, it was as though it had suddenly swollen and became increasingly sensitive, to the point where it was a continuous and uncomfortable pain. The ER doctor diagnosed me with a vaginal polyp and gave me a course of antibiotics and a mild pain reliever. I ve done several searches online in that time, and the term vaginal polyp seems to be non-existent. While I can find plenty of information about cervical and uterine polyps, none of this information seems to be relevant to what I am experiencing, including searching for pictures of the problem. The best way I can describe the appearance is an oblong, pink formation that seems rooted at the bottom of the opening to the vaginal canal; meaning, it has not formed in the uterus or on the cervix, but on the literal vagina. The the texture and color are exactly the same as the rest of the vaginal tissue, and while I m no longer experiencing much discomfort it has grown dramatically in six months. When I went to the ER, I would estimate that the growth was somewhere around one centimeter in diameter, and almost round. Now, I would estimate that it is somewhere between 4-6 centimeters long with a one centimeter diameter. I am 21 years old, and sexually active. I do not take birth control, but do use condoms consistently (if this information helps). I cannot really afford to go to a gynecologist, yet I absolutely cannot find any information that I find relevant to my problem. Please help. Do you have any idea what this is?
