What Could Be The Reason For Constant Itching In Whole Body After Having Bladder Sling Surgery?

I had the bladder sling surgery done 7/2013 and 8 days later I started to itch. The itching is not limited to any area. It can be from my toes to my head. I have been to several different doctor's, been put on topicals, predisone, steroids but can not get this under control. I am being told by the urologist it is not the sling. Currently I am seeing a dermatologist who has changed my soaps, lotions and is doing more lab work. My question is after 5 months of constant itching (not a day goes by I don't itch) can this be something else or has there been anyone else experiencing this symptom?

Thanks.

Hi,
I am quite empathetic to the constant itching in whole body after having bladder sling surgery. I have gone through your query with diligence and after reading your history it appears that you might have developed allergic contact dermatitis to some contact allergen.

You recollect if you have scratched it or anything new coming in your contact before appearance of the rash.
I advise you to not pinch or pop the area otherwise these areas are very prone for getting secondary infection. For time being period you can take antihistamine tablet such as loratadine or cetrizine. Do not try to even touch or pinch the area as can cause more aggravation of the problem.

You should preferably meet another dermatologist who can examine you physically and provide you the best treatment.
Take care.
