I have had a sore stomach for over 4 weeks now. It get worst through the day with walking, bending and activity which is limited. I have a cough since October last year. I am on a waiting list of 5-6 months for a gastroscopy. I have medication Omeprazole, Ranitidine tried Mylanta and Gaviscon and it still continues to be painful

Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted the history of sore stomach for over 4 weeks, gets worse through the day with walking, bending and activities, have cough since October last year, Waiting for gastroscopy as the waiting is for 5-6 months. Taking Omeprazole, Ranitidine, Mylnta and Gaviscon but no relief.
This may indicate that the problem of gastritis and/or duodenitis may be more than the routine hence you need the following investigations:
Try to get an early appointment for Upper GI Endoscopy.
CT scan of the abdomen to see whether there is any gastrinoma or GIST like tumors in the abdomen.
Continue the medicines.
It is possible that there may be more of a stress and/or anxiety that are not allowing the relief with the medication.
- Change in diet avoiding all the foods and beverages that cause gastritis.
Soft bland diet.
Small frequent feeds.
All these measures will help you to get an early relief.
