What Could Be The Reason For Having Fainting And Becoming Black?
My mother has been passing out, fainting out of know where. Everything goes black and she falls. What could be causing this problem. Her primary care doctor did an excessive work up on her and does not know what is causing her to pass out. I am a bit concerned now because it is happening frequently and she lives alone.
I am sorry to hear about your mother having fainting spells and falling. This concerns me greatly as falls place her at risk for fractures. I am glad to hear that she did see her doctor and they did a work up for fainting.
In my practice I have patient who have fallen and the most common cause is low blood pressure either from medication or anemia. They may also have an irregular heart rate that only happens occasionally.
Part of my work up includes blood work, CBC, Metabolic panel including magnesium levels, EKG and possibly a Holter monitor to detect irregular heart beats. If she has already had these tests she may need additional evaluation by cardiologist who can do more in depth testing for syncope
