Hello. Thanks for asking from HCM.
I can understand your concern. This headache over back of head could be due to
: Tension headcahe - It is one of the most common type of headache. It is usually due to eye strain/physical or mental strain. It usually feels like tight band around head, dull pain, may be associated with dizziness/heaviness/
fatigue, occurs holocranial.
If his symptoms are matching, then it could be due to it. For relief, you can ask him follow few tips
; avoid bright light
; prolonged work on computer/laptop
; take 8 hours nap daily
; massage his neck and head. It will relieve his
neck spasm.
; you can ask him to painkiller like
Diclofenac sodium after proper prescription
: Hypertensive headache - There is not much detail available in your complaint so I can not clearly rule out
hypertension. Hypertensive headache usually gives
dull headache in back of head (occipital region). It can also cause
nasal bleeding, visual blurring, generalised weakness.
It can be ruled out by getting his BP checked. You can
consult doctor. Further management will be decided after BP monitoring. Meanwhile, he should avoid excessive salt intake and limit it at 2gm, avoid fatty food, take morning walk.
Hope it will help you. If still no relief, you should consult doctor.
Thanks. Take care.
