What Could Be The Reason For Having Severe Dry Cough At Night And Breathlessness?
Severe dry cough at night- Hi Doctor, My dad-58 years old with no history of asthma has been facing severe dry cough at night since last 45 days. Cough is reasonably fine during the day but he has recently been complaining of breathlessness also. Recent blood test founding were high eosinophil count-50 (normal range being 0-5) and total WBC count of 21000. Please suggest..!!

The such high eosinophils count is known as eosinophilia and may be due to .
1 Worm associated eosinophilia are tapeworms (cestodes). flukes trematodes, roundworms .Diagnosis can be confirmed by serology test and molecular test . 2 Tropical eosinophilia is another reason , may be due to filaria .
3 Asthma sometimes asthmatic allergic bronchitis may be the main reason of such high eosinophiols count .
In your father case there is also sever dry hacking cough. Cough is also an indication of allergy . In my opinion consult a physician and get his opinion as ronchi and wheezing are the main sign find during physical examination.
