What Could Be The Reason For Having Spotting After Sex?
Hello. I am a college student on the verge of entering nursing school.
I had a surgical abortion on November 7, 2013. I took my medications and went to the follow up appointment and the nurse practitioner assured that I was fine. On that same day, I was administered the Depo Shot as a form of birth control. Five Days later my boyfriend and I had (stupidly) had unprotected sex.
How effective is the Depo shot? And everytime we have sex, I bleed- its light- almost like im spotting, and then it stops after a week or so. but recently its been a dark red/brownish discharge. Am I ok? is this normal? are these signs of me being pregnant again? or is it trauma to my cervix thats causing me to bleed? please help me

Hi,
The bleeding/spotting you have after having sex could be caused by the trauma during sex, especially when it involves hard sex or if you do not get arousal in time with your boyfriend (dry sex).
Depo shot is effectively immediately after the shot (within 5 days). To be sure you are not pregnant, please take the blood/urine pregnancy test 10 days after the unprotected sex.
