What Could Be The Reason For Lymph Nodes ?
my 2 yr old son has enlarged liver kissing tonsils and enlarged lymph nodes his mbv came back poitive antibiotics have not worked what does all this mean

It appears your son has Epstein Barr virus infection causing Infectious mononucleosis, also known as Kissing disease, which is usually transmitted by kissing, or saliva and/or body fluid exchange. It is common in children while playing together. Antibiotics are generally not effective because it is a viral disease and some like Ampicillin and Amoxycillin are contraindicated as they can precipitate a rash in 99% of the time. In case of a Streptococcal throat infection, Penicillin may be used, provided he doesn't have allergy to it. Discuss with his Doctor of the possible use of NSAIDs and Steroids to help him experience relief. the disease is usually self-limiting and does not usually require anti-viral therapy.
