What Could Be The Reason For Prolonged Periods And Purplish Red Discharge?
Hello I am 19years old almost twenty. I am not on birth control and do not use anything I have been with the same guy for a year now and I just got checked two weeks ago and I have no infection or any kind of std. I have been getting my period ever 7 to 10 days for about two months and they last about 5 or 6 days . The blood is not a normal color either is a purpleish red color and then about the day or two before I get off it's brown. I am very worried and have no Clue what it could be. Please help me!
Hi, Thanks for the query. Menstrual cycles with less cycle length and heavy flow is called polymenorrhagia. This can occur due to causes like : - Hormonal imbalance - Thyroid hormonal abnormalities - Structural causes like fibroids, polyps -Endometrial abnormalities etc. As you are having symptoms since two months, better to consult gynecologist once and get evaluated. Go for investigations like ultrasound, thyroid profile, hormonal profile including estrogen, progesterone, LH and FSH etc. By this workup the possible cause for your problem can be identified and treated.
