Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement 's  Response
Hi, thanks for writing to HCM.

Based on the description, I suspect "Infrapatellar bursitis" as the cause of your symptoms. The treatment of this condition is as follows -

* Rest to the affected joint and avoiding positions like kneeling down
* Applying cold therapy in the form of ice compressions will help to reduce the pain and swelling.
* Simple antiinflammatory medications like Advil or Aleve will reduce the inflammation.
* If the inflammation does not respond to the above measures, surgical drainage (aspiration) of fluid from the bursa and the injection of corticosteroids into the bursa is an alternative treatment.

I suggest you to consult an orthopedic surgeon for further management.

Hope this information is helpful. Good day
