What Could Be The Reason For Sudden Variations In Body Temperature Of My Daughter?

My 7 year old daughter got a fever on Sunday that reached 104 degrees. She also started vomiting. We took her to the doctor on Monday and she prescribed Tylenol. The fever went down but as it wore down, she went right back to 103 degrees. Same thing happened the second and third times. Fever went down and then back up. Taking her to the doctor tomorrow for blood work but I am worried that it may be the symptoms of something serious like Leukemia

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

Viral fevers will produce high-grade continuous fever which will come after the medication effect is over. So no need to worry. Leukemia is less likely in acute onset. Is she having any body pain, tiredness?
A simple blood test can rule out leukemia if you have doubts.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Rajmohan, Pediatrician
