General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi, I have gone through your query and understood your concerns. With this presentation, I think his throat got irritated by acidic fluid coming up from his stomach as he was sleeping. He probably went to bed immediately after dinner. I often advise my patients to stay up for at least 2 hours after dinner before going to bed, to avoid alcohol consumption, fatty and caffeine-containing food in the evening. Everything will normalize even without treatment but if he adopts this attitude, there are less chances for it to occur again.
I hope have answered your query
I wish him good health
