What Could Be The Treatment For Large Valves With Incorrect Blood Flow, Resulting In Sharp Leg Pain?
My legs have started to ache quite a bit. mostly at night but also some during the day. they feel really tired, achy & heavy after exercising. it is from my hips to my calves. not really any swelling. some sharp pains in my groin. went to a vein specialist and they say my valves are larger than they should be and the blood is flowing incorrectly. they want to do an abalation. not sure what to think...
Hi ! Good morning. I am Dr Shareef answering your query.
Whether you have got defective valve or not could be diagnosed by a physical examination by a general surgeon followed by a Doppler ultrasound which will confirm the defective blood flow. If it is confirmed, then it needs either a conservative management with tight stockings and avoiding long hours of standing erect, or with some invasive procedures depending on the severity of your symptoms and signs , and your doctor's advice.
I hope this information would help you in discussing with your family physician/treating doctor in planning your treatment. Thanks for using the health care magic forum for your query on health. Wishing you an early recovery. Dr Shareef.
