male 55 years old. type 2 diabetic. for the last month or so I have been experiencing gas bloating and cramps. I have one bowel movement a day which is normal. A couple of times a day it is like pencil size with mucus and the first small piece has bright red blood on the tip...may be a hemroid then no more blood. can t afford health insurance. what do you think this could be? ....nothing bad in family history. please help. thank you.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello dear, I am ur Physician to help u with ur issues. Type II diabetes causes small nerves damage in stomach and intestines along with other areas any systems of body. Gastroparesis(stomach nerves damage leads to lesser atomach movements that were needed for digestion) and decreased Intestinal movements can lead to Slowed Bowel movements. This leads to impaired digestion and CONSTIPATION. Its common issue. Thats why I advise my patients to take Plenty of fluids and high fiber diet.
Constipation causes hard and longer lasting stools that cause sometimes Rectal bleed due to Anal Fissures(a cut on anal surface due to passing the hard stools)
Note:- take high fiber diet
Add fruits( but according to ur sugar levels in blood)
Add plenty of fluids
Jogging and brisk walk 4,5 times a week
Never push so much on passing out the hard constipated stools. It causes anal fissures.
Use Sitz Bath( add saline water to warm water in a tub and sit in that daily for 4,5 times) it soothens efficiently.
Also go consult ur physician to check for any anemia, bleeding disorders etc
Hope u get well soon. Stay blessed
