What Could Blood Discharge During Bowels Suggest?

Hello My husband has just emptied his bowels and has had drips of bright red blood coming out of his bum, there was also dark red blood like a clot once he had wiped. He has slight pain in his groin and said he now feels drained.This has happened before but not as bad, and he went to the drs 6 month ago and had an internal and although this was never fully followed up by a specialist for further tests the dr said it appeared there was nothing to worry about.But it doesn t seem right to me.Please can you offer any advise Many thansKelly Alexander

Hi,

Noted the complaints about your husband.
Discharge of fresh blood after passing stool is indicative of one of the following:
Rupture of hemorrhoids
Bleeding polyp.
Cancer of rectum or so.
This can be confirmed by the following:
Ano-proctoscopy to start with and then colonoscopy and biopsy if required.
Tests of stool and blood.
Clinical examination by a General Surgeon and further management as per the findings.
If there are hemorrhoid or polyp, then simple surgery can help/
If any other problems the treatment will be as per the cause found.
May also need replacement of blood if there is anemia.
