HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

An abscess is a collection of pus and can occur in any area of the body. It occurs when bacteria enter into the skin through even a small area eg a scratch mark.

The fact that it is still painful may indicate that not all of the pus is out. The definitive treatment is incision and drainage.
This is usually an in office short procedure.

Antibiotics may also be needed as well.

I hope this helps
