Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Could Bouts Of Diarrhea With On And Off Twinge In Lower Abdomen Indicate?
I am 70 years old female. I have been very healthy most of my life. I never had surgeries, only two natural deliveries. I am 5.1 and 124 lbs, have a very good diet and exercise some. Eight years ago I was diagnosed with Type II diabetes. I am under the care of a specialist and am not on insulin. My last extensive lab report was normal. Lately I have been having bouts of diarrahea (sp.) and last two days I am having an occasional twinge in the right lower side of my stomach. I feel fine otherwise. What could be the reason? thank you.
I can understand your concern and would try to help you in the best way possible. Your problems can be due to irritable bowel syndrome or inflammatory colitis. To differentiate between the two conditions i need a complete medical history and some investigations like blood tests, stool examination and even a scopy.
I suggest you consult a physician who may be able to help you with a history and diagnostic workup.
In the mean while you may take probiotics like curd, high fibre diet including vegetables and fruits and cut down on your meat intake. These steps may help you regulate your bowels better.
