Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello My son is 9 years old facing mental heatlth issues with ADHD. When he was a week old he and our family had Carbon monoxide in our home. Lucky we had a detector and the ED reported none of us showed any levels in our blood except my husband who had to stay in the ED for several more hours. We have no history of mental health issues in our family and I am thinking back what could have caused this. I can t find studies that could link. In general have you come across this concern? Thanks Lisa s
Children with ADHD can be aggressive and difficult to manage. A counsellor can help her to understand the situation and the problems including the possible ways out. However, I would advocate taking her to a child psychologist. He would be able to administer cognitive behavioral therapy or behavior modification therapy which would help in restructuring her attitudes. He could also explain how her caregivers (you and others in the family) should alter behavior in order to deal with her.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Iven Romic Rommstein, General Surgeon
