What Could Cause Chronic Shortness Of Breath With All Tests Being Normal?

I have had chronic shortness of breath day and night since January 25. I have been to a pulmonologist who put me through a lot of tests, nothing can be found. No asthma or allergies. I had echocardiogram done, no problem with heart or arteries. I m getting normal oxygen saturation levels in lungs upon rest or activity. My doctor and pulmonologist are baffled. I m going for further testing by a cardiologist. Any idea of what can be going on? I m able to sleep at night, the shortness of breath is still there but not as intense feeling.

Thanks for your question on HCM.
I can understand your situation and problem.
Since your all routine and pulmonary causes have been ruled out, we need to look for uncommon causes in your case.
Chronic pulmonary embolism (PE) can be the cause in your case.
So get done
1. D-Dimer
2. CT pulmonary angiography
To rule out PE.
If both are normal then no need to worry for PE.
With all tests negative, anxiety appears more in your case.
So avoid stress and tension.
Be relax and calm. Consult psychiatrist and get done counselling sessions. Try to identify stressor in your life and start working on its solution. Don't worry, you will be alright.
