My husband who is 66 went to a dr for a yearly physical yesterday. They called this am stating there is a cloudy area on one mid lung. they are ordering a cat scan with iv for monday. what i really need to know what are the usual dx for this. Pneumonia, cancer what else could it be? he has no sytems al all.
Thanks for your question on Health Care Magic. I can understand your concern. Cloudy area on lung in chest x ray can be due to 1. Infections like tuberculosis or fungal infection or bacterial pneumonia. 2. Pulmonary contusions 3. Pulmonary embolism and infarction. 4. Old healed scar lesions. 5. Lung cancer and malignant nodules etc. So wait for CT thorax report. It will be more informative about diagnosis. If he is non smoker than no need to worry for major lung disease because he is asymptomatic. But if he is smoker than possibility of either lung infection or cancer is more. Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wishing good health to your husband. Thanks.
