Hi,I am Dr. Santosh Kondekar (Pediatrician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello, I am Ganesh from Hyderabad, India. My son-4Yrs old, has been suffering from cold & continuous cough. We consulted pediatrician and he prescribed Moxikind CV Kid and Brodil Syrup. I had tough time in giving him both the medicines separately and so decided to mix it up together and gave him twice(Yesterday Morning & before bed). But this morning I could see, he has developed some rashes in his legs, thighs and a small patch in his chest too. Is it sort of allergic due to the tablets? I didn t give him any dosage thats due now. I will have to wait till evening to consult the pead again.
The rash is most likely due to the antibiotic and points to the entire illness being due to a virus that is called as "infectious mononucleosis" virus or the EBV. Please ask your pediatrician about this when you are with him. Avoid the antibiotic and ask them to replace it with something other than a penicillin or a cephalosporin. You can show him this answer instead of trying to remember these difficult words. ;-)
