What Could Cause Continuous Belching, Throat Ache And Chest Pain In A Toddler After Recovering From Flu?
Greetings! My five year old was sick with the flu for 3 weeks. now that she is all better, she has this issue with belching all day. She says that sometimes the burp gets got in her throat and she can't get it out, she is also saying that her throat hurts and her chest. Have you ever heard of this and do you have any suggestions on what I can do to help her/
Hi Welcome to Healthcare-Magic Greetings of the day
The cause of belching issue is likely to be due to gastritis and reflux of acid into the oesophagus( Gastroesophageal reflux). It's quite common in children after upper respiratory infection. Short term use of proton pump inhibitor and gastric motility promoting drugs may be beneficial.

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi, As a side effect of the medications given for flu, there is disturbance of intestinal flora , gastritis, stomatitis & so- - problem in digestion,,B complex deficiency , acidity, weakness are common after cure. These in turn cause belching, ulcers n mouth&throat,weakness-& so pain in chest The best way to support her is by giving her complex with( lacto bacillus preparation), give her light & easily digestible nutritive diet & rest, Digestive enzymes may be added. As far as children are concerned, it's always better to get a specialist's guidance for management. Thanks.
