What Could Cause Elevated EOS Level?

Have a Eos of 7 and an Eos[absolute] of 5.4. My Dr. didn t seem to think much of it ,but I forgot to mention that my dog had tape worms. I just read that a high EOS could be from a parasite. Should I see my Dr. again ? Will this clear up on its own?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello
Normal eosinophils count is 2-5 % .
Let me explain few things about eosinophils .
Eosinophilia is the presence of > 500 ( more than 500 ) eosinophils / ml of blood and is common in many settings besides parasitic infections.
The most common cause of eosinophilia is allergic reactions to drugs ( iodine , aspirin , sulpha, penicilins ) .
Allergy to dust , mite, hay , fodder, pollen, mold.
Also in certain diseases as collagen vasculur disease, arthritis .
I want to tell you that the most common cause of eosinophilia is allergy besides helminthes ( parasite including in your dog).
As this is very common so need not to worry .
If you have any doubt take anti helminthic tablets like albedazole 400 mg cheable or ivermectin 12 mg single dose .
Repeat this course once in a month for 4-5 course.
Good luck.
