What Could Cause Itchy Red Swollen Welts On The Ankles And Feet?

Hi - my skin by my feet and ankles has red swollen marks which are very itchy. My guess is that it s from insect bites at dinner the other night. My pharmacist recommended cortisone 10 which is a 1% hydrocortisone anti-itch cream which says on the label that its itch relief is 10 hours. While this works initially (say for an hour) my skin remains itchy and at night when I am trying to sleep, the itching keeps me awake. Any thoughts?

Hello,

You are suffering from itchy, red swollen welts on the ankles and feet due to insect bite. You are suggested to take a shower and wash the affected area with water and antibacterial soap. Apply hydrocortisone cream on the affected area. You can take non-sedating antihistamine to reduce inflammation, redness, swelling of the affected area. You can take it twice a day for 5 (five) days.

Take acetaminophen to help reduce pain and inflammation. Take care of your foot hygiene. Do not wear uncomfortable foot wear. Wear sandals for relieve. stay away from addictions if any. If the symptom is resistant, you are suggested to get it clinically examined by a dermatologist. You may need antibiotics or oral corticosteroids. Do not share your shoes, socks, toiletries with anyone else.
