What Could Cause Little Hemorrhage Spots On Finger?

I take my blood sugar every morning and at night. I am a recent stroke patient. In pricking my finger this morning, blood just gushed out of my finger and it took a while to stopthe bleeding. It has never done this before. A matter of fact it usually takes me to squeeze my finger a bit to get a good drop of blood. Also I noticed today little hemmorage spots on my fingers. Should I be concerned?

Thank you for you nice question! It seems to be a problem with your body clotting function and the prolonged hemorrhage time; it could be from intrinsic or extrinsic reasons; I don't know if you are taking any drugs for your cerebro-vascular problem (stroke): do your doctor have prescribed you anticoagulant medications ( like K antivitaminics, or newly anti-thrombin or anti Xa-inhibitor drugs); because sometimes for different reasons like food, or drug interactions or because of inappropriate dosing they could exert a greater anticoagulant state expressed with a greater hemorrhagic state; or do you take antithrombotics like ticlopidine because it sometimes causes medullary aplasia and a low platelet count expressed also with hemorrhage tendence;
Also different intrinsic hematologic problems could cause that phenomena;
Don't forget that you are a diabetic patient and as such your blood vessel are more fragile and prone to exhibit exaggerated traumatic injuries.

So to say it short I recommend you immediate blood tests: complete blood counts; INR, aPTT and if your GP exclude any extrinsic causes ( like drug effects) and results a problem with your coagulation system you should consult a hematologist.
