I'm 19 years old and I have never had a regular period. I was two weeks late for my last period and then decided to start taking the contraceptive pill (Microgynon) to try and regulate my period. Since then I have been having sharp stabbing pains in my lower abdomen, mainly on the right side and in my clitoris and urethra. It is very painful, could this be because of the pill, PCOS perhaps? Should I stop taking the pill?
I think that this condition of your can be due to hormonal irregularities which can lead to menstrual irregularities. I will suggest you to have a thyroid profile test and prolactin test done, and yes there are chances of polycystic ovarian disease. Hence, an ultrasound examination of lower abdomen will be required. Start taking contraceptive pills from day 1 of cycle to day 21 of cycle and continue it for 3 cycles.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
