What Could Cause Persistent Extreme Abdominal Pain When Test Results Are Normal?

Hi, I have recently been struggling with extreme abdominal pain mostly on the right lower side but it does move to the middle and left but seems to stem from the right. I have been in A&E for two days and had blood tests, ultra sound, urine tests and a CT scan but everything has come back normal. Sometimes it can be excruciating and hurts more when I walk and move. I am struggling with nausea, lack of appetite and not been sleeping. They thought it was my appendix but as everything came back normal, they were baffled and sent me away with pain medication. I am struggling and at a loss as what it could be and have been referred back to my GP. I am a 24 year old women. Hope someone can help. Thanks

Hello,

Take antacids or PPIs, as SOS when there is pain. Take adequate water and fluids for better bowel movement. Take high fiber diet and take laxatives if required. Avoid constipation. Your symptoms can be indicative of liver dysfunction or galls stones. Get blood tests and imaging tests done.

Get liver function tests, urinalysis (R/E and C/S) done. You will be treated with liver tonic (Liv 52 and digestives). Take boiled food & food cooked in olive oil. Avoid taking spicy, oily, junk food. Take boiled water after cooling. If any biliary problem or gall stone is detected, you will be given conservative treatment and recommended surgery by your treating doctor if required.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
