What Could Cause Prolonged Cough And Chest Congestion In A Child?
Our 6 year old daughter has been sick now with coughs, rattly chest and runny nose. She gets over something and within two or three days she is unwell again. I have repeatedly taken her to doctors who just keep diagnosing her with a virus or flu. She has been unwell now for nearly 9 weeks and I am at my wits end. I ensure she has a daily vitamin C tablet as well as 5mls of a iron tonic.
Possibility of she may developed allergy to vitamin C medication. I observed in few patients with vit c supplementation developed chest congestion. Give vitamin c in another form like goose berry powder or juice.
Also, check for animal dander or cold weather or cool drinks or ice creams may be causing this problem. Use steam inhalation thrice a day for five days. Continue antibiotics. Warm chest compression may relive congestion. If no improvement please consult with your Pediatrician he will examine and treat you accordingly.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
