What Could Cause Severe Pain While Drawing Blood With Hard And Swollen Area Around?
had blood drawn today. Extreme pain during the draw,severe burning when the pullout and the alcohol gauze put on. Extreme pain and a hard swollen half-dollar wide area with over an inch high where the blood was drawn. Pain throughout the arm that brings me to tears. What happened? I ve have blood drawn thousands of times before with no problems(i am 60 yrs old,had poor health most of my life)

Hi,
It is due to local inflammation after drawing blood. Nothing much to worry and it will settle by itself. As of now you can take drugs like Trypsin for symptomatic relief. If symptoms persist, it is better to consult a physician and get evaluated.
