What Could Cause Soft Stool With Mucus After Taking Metronidazole?

Hi. I had fecalysis on June 17, 2023 and it turn out positive to Entamoeba Histolytica Cyst, the results are.. Color: Brown Consistency: Soft - Mucoid WBC - 1-3/hpf RBC - 0-2/hpf Bacteria: Moderate Yeast Cells: Few Entamoeba histolytica cyst: 0-2/hpf Doctor prescribed me Metronidazole for 7 days. And I complete the antibiotics. But I hade to take stool test again this July 24 because my stool are still mushy and had mucus. And these are my results Color: Brown Consistency: Soft WBC - 0-2hpf RBC - 1-3/hpf Bacteria: Many No Intestinal Parasite Seen But why is my stool still like these and when i had stool test the results are No parasite Seen?? Thank you pls help

Hello,

Presently your stool test report shows few white blood cells, it is indicative that there is still inflammation in your digestive system. Your stool color is normal. Your test report also shows few RBC in stool. It is indicative of IBS, ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease, etc. It is good that there is no parasite seen.

You are suggested to continue the medicine prescribed for 3-5 days and watch the consistency of stool that you pass. You are suggested to get clinically examined by a gastroenterologist if your symptoms persist. You may need to get few blood tests and required imaging tests done for precise diagnosis. In the meantime, take boiled water after cooling it. Take home-made nutritious food, low in oil and spices. Prefer to take boiled food over spicy oily food. Do not consume packaged and processed food.
