What Could Cause Sore Throat, Swollen Gland In Neck, Frequent Bowel Movements And Runny Nose?

After a week of feeling like I was beginning to get a sore throat I woke up yesterday with a swollen gland in my lower right neck, closer to my throat. At the same time I noticed the swollen gland I am also having having frequent bowel movements that tend to be more so diareaha and occasional nausea. I have had sinus problems with the sneezing an stuffy/runny nose. What could this be?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of e sore throat, swollen gland in neck, frequent bowel movements and runny nose which is due to upper respiratory infection due to poor immunity of your body. Frequent bowel movements occurs due to electrolyte imbalance in body. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to avoid use of spicy, sharp oily and fried food substances. Apply mist humidifiers in room. You should take throat soothing agents. You should take combination of antibiotic Levofloxacin along with antihistamine such as Levocetirizine. You should take cough expectorants. You should take small and frequent meals and avoid large meals at a time. You should do warm saline rinses 3-4 times a day. You should avoid cold carbonated beverages. You should visit ENT specialist once and get it examined. You should get chest x-ray done along with pulmonary function tests done so as to detect level of infection and treatment can be started accordingly.

Hope your concern has been resolved.
