Hello,

Since you already had URT infection and now you again experience the same symptoms after root canal treatment, you should take care of your general health condition. Recurrent infection of the respiratory tract is indicative of disturbance in your immunological system. In some patients root canal may interfere with the immune system You are suggested to take better care of your self. Stay away from polluted area, avoid inhaling pollen, smoke, dust, chemicals, etc. Take home made food rich in proteins and minerals. You can take supplements also.

Always take cooked vegetables and fruits (in oats, porridge, etc). Do not take it raw. Take boiled water, take sips to avoid dryness of the throat. Vitamin E (Evion - 400mg), once daily for ten days will prevent dryness of the mucosa of the throat that triggers cough. You should gargle your throat thrice daily with water and salt. Take food that does not hurt your throat. Avoid spicy and oily food. Take a course of antihistamines for relieve. Get clinically examined, get swab and sputum tests done. You may need antibiotics. Do not neglect it, neglect will trigger breathing problems or asthma. Stay away from anxiety and stressful lifestyle.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
