What Could Difficulty In Swallowing, Excess Phlegm And Sore Throat Post Uvulectomy Indicate?
I am six weeks post uvulectomy. Was feeling well until almost four weeks ago when I contracted some kind of URI. Started with sore throat then nasal and chest congestion. Still coughing a week ago so started taking gereric claritin without the decongestant because it interferes with sleep. Five days ago started having excess phlegm in area where uvula was. Hard to swallow. Felt like I was gagging. Have had two panic attacks in the night since. No fever. Am 68 yrs. old, 120 lbs., 5 3 . Went to Iceland three weeks post surgery. felt great, climbed a mountain, did still have a couple of sutures in throat. Infection?
Difficulty in swallowing can be due to many reasons like infections like fungal or bacterial, pharyngitis or tonsillitis. It can be some neuro-muscular problem or a growth or mass. It can be due mucosal diseases if esophagus like esophagitis. It can be due to some mediastinal disease. there can be various reasons and at various levels of the food passage.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
