Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Had MRI 6 months ago to check the status of my liver, I have HepB (very low viral count and does not take any medicine), they incidently found that I have a small dilation of my bile duct with no masses or growth or cyst. I still have no symptoms. Now I just had a follow-up MRI, I am still waiting for the results 93 days later), I am worried like a crazy. Do you think alot can change since 6 months ago? thanks
A slight dilation in your bile duct with no associated masses or stones isn't really cause for concern, especially if you have no symptoms and your blood work is normal. The recommendation is that you should get liver enzymes, a right upper quadrant ultrasound and alphafetoprotein level (AFP) checked every 6 months with hepatitis B.
I hope this answers your questions. Please feel free to contact me should you have any further questions.
