What Could Extreme Pain In The Arm Affected By Stroke Indicate?
I have a arm that I can not use due to having a stroke.. Have not be able to feel it for over 20 years.. I wake up in so much pain.. Went to dr and he was not interested that it was a stroke arm and have not felt nothing in all those years.. And now hurting he gave me Gabapentin and meloxicam..
** 1. since stroke affected the part of the brain which which control's limb movement as such it caused inability to move or feel the arm of affected side. and since right half of the brain controls left and vise versa thus effects will be opposite [get a detailed list of the same from your doctor]
2. research have shown that people with strokes do have post stroke pain which is chronic and feels like pins and needle sensation [reason of giving gabapentin and meloxicam]
3. Apart from medicine you can try following following at home: . move all the limbs actively/passively through full range to avoid possible muscle spasm . try relaxation techniques and deep breathing exercises. . consult a Physiotherapist for simple exercises . Avoid things that can cause pain, such as hot baths, tight clothing, and pressure on the side of your body affected by the stroke
