What Could Have Caused Vaginal Bleeding After Taking Xaoelto For Blood Thinning In 82 Yr Old?
Hi . My 82 year old mother was given a new prescription, Xaoelto for blood thinning. After taking one pill she had some vaginal bleeding. She stopped taking it. The cardiologist also said to stop taking and have her see a gynecologist. What could this be?

vaginal bleeding in 80 year old is a serious issue. It could be due to simple vaginal atrophy and cervical infection, but other causes like malignancies should be excluded.
Blood thinners often precipitate bleeding in either cases. So it is mandatory to consult a gynecologist and find out if her cervix, endometrium and adnexae are normal.
