What Could Heavy Bleeding And Painful Periods With Frequent Urination Suggest?

Hello, I am a 21 year old, and I have been having some concerns about my period. My period usually is heavy and extremely painful. In the month of May i had vaginal bleeding two days after my period ended. It was abruptly but not painful. But it was a lot. Now I am having the worries that, like mentioned before about they are heavy and very painful, this month my period was with no pain, just slight discomfort the first few hours. Plus it was mostly light to little blood flow. My periods usually last from 3-4 days tops. It was on day 6 and it was still at it but after the second day it s like if I finished my period (like 24 hours with no flow), then light flow came out. It has been day 7 and now it s mostly spotting that I notice when i urinate. And my urination has been very frequently. Is this to be concerned about?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Hormonal imbalance is the main cause of delayed or irregular or scanty menstrual bleeding. The cause of irregular periods such as polycystic ovaries, obesity and hypothyroidism should be identified and treated effectively. Ultrasound pelvis, FSH LH hormone ratio, thyroid profile and blood sugar level, body mass index is essential to identify the cause of irregular periods.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Saranya Ramadoss, General & Family Physician
