What Could Immense Burning Post Urination Indicate?

Hi I currently experience immense burning after passing urine (Mostly the nd of urination). 3 weeks back I noticed tea coloured urine. (I hd not urinated all day long) I immediately went to Urgent care whet they said my urine sample was normal and culture was negative of infection. I got my period in 2 days post test. Post my menstrual cycle I experience immense burning at the end of urination. I am currently using Monostat 3. The burning sensation has lasted for 7 days in all now. Do I see a doctor again?

Hi,

The possible causes of your symptoms are:
-As you have not passed urine all the day, that might have lead to prolonged retention of urine can led to altered color of urine, burning micturition, etc.
-Pain at the end of micturition usually indicates cystitis, infection in the urinary bladder.

Usage of sanitary pads for prolonged periods during menstruation can also lead to urinary tract infections. Monostat 3 mainly acts as an anti-fungal agent. The possible steps that can help you are:
-Taking plenty of oral fluids, 3 to 4 liters per day.
-Passing urine in every two to three hours.
-Urinary tract analgesics like Phenazopyridine can help in decreasing the burning.
-Urine routine and microscopy, urine culture and sensitivity can help in finding the possibility of infection, causative organism and its sensitivity to drugs.
Please discuss these things with your doctor and follow her advice.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Sree Gouri S. R., OBGYN
