My husband has been taking methadone for over 20 years Got sick of stomach. Pain He could. Not have a bowel. Movement and could not pee. Then suddenly. He could not walk at all. Have no feelings on his. Legs from Thighs nor. Calfs Feet. His calfs are reddish brown spots He smokes And drinks beer
Opiates cause constipation. This is a short term effect is and not a permanent effect on the gut. Indeed, there are simple medications that can caust this (lomotic and immodium for example) and drugs that block narcotics but do not get out of the gut (Relistor, movantik).
