What Could It Be If Had Throat Pain, Red Patch On The Soft Palate Close To The Uvula?

I have had minor throat pain for a few months and lately noticed a red patch that seems to contain a small blister on the left soft palate close to the uvula. Lozenges or gargling with salt water don't help. When I look it up on the web all I get are cancer sites so I hope there's another explanation. My doctor has scheduled a CT scan - I thought she'd just give me antibiotics. Any clues?

HELLO

Please dont worry , i would like to know if you smoke or drink?
I would also like to know if your doctor has considered the possibility of aphtous ulcer , whicht also looks like the lesion you have described above.
Antibiotics are not useful for most oral ulcers and i would like you to get a second opinion from a dermatologist/skin doctor. Thanks
