What Could Itching In Breasts After Tumor Removal Indicate?

I went through Stage 1,T1b, NO,MO, low-grade infiltrating ductal carcinoma of the right breast:status post lumpectomy w/negative margins. The tumor is estrogen and progesterone receptor positive and HER2/neu negative just to give you an idea of what the diagnosis was. I had the tumor removed and went thru 16 treatments of radiation....Surgery done October 24,2011 lumpectomy, and lymp nodes removed. I recently have been experiencing some itching in that breast, and mentioned it to my surgeon, of which it was not discussed in any detail, and she seemed to dismiss my concern and made me feel that it is nothing to worry about. I do have concerns and after doing some research, it might be something to be concerned about (IBC), do you have any suggestions as to what it might be, and should I be concerned? Should I see another doctor, my next mamogram isn t until June, should I get one sooner?

hello, I understand your concern. However it appear to be itching could be post operative neural pain which is a commo finding.

Your cancer stage was a very early and hormone positive status make it in more favourable group.

The only thing i am concerned is for the fact that you must be taking anti hormonal medication regularly.

Mammogram can be done early if you feel any lump. just a itching is something you should just treat symptomatically.
