What Could Longer Periods And Spotting With Cramps Indicate?

I have been bleeding for a week and half now and having nausea. The first 5 days were like a regular period & the rest has just been spotting daily. I also had cramps for the first six days. I took a home pregnancy test and it's negative. I'm also on the birth control shot. I'm not sure what the symptoms mean. Please help

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello.
Thank you for contacting HCM.

I have gone through your question and I understand your concern. The symptoms you are describing are few of the common side effects( nausea, vomiting, irregular spotting, breast tenderness etc) of birth control injections. As you have already have had a negative pregnancy test I would suggest you consult your local gynecologist if the side effects you are experiencing are getting bothersome for you for clinical evaluation and any replacement method of contraception if required.

I hope this answers your question. Please feel free to contact HCM again if you have any concerns.
Wishing you good health
