I have had a mri which states that I have Mild Edema in theposterior joint capsule, mild capsulitis, also a possible small but equivocal longitudinal tear on the undesurface of the posterior body of the medial meniscus a (longitudinal peripheal cleavage tear )? also a possible ganglion cyst or a meniscus cyst. welcome to Health care magic.
1.Inflamation to the knee capsule due to trauma / infection, In MRI it will be seen as a signal intensity changes.
2.There are two meniscus banana shaped seen as dark in colour, if there is any tear it will be detected as altered signal ( white colour ) in your case it is longitudinal in nature anterior to posterior.
3.There is cystic structure (collection of fluid ) in the meniscus due to inflammatory changes.
4.All these means you need a meniscal repair - is treatment of choice.
5.Your age and history would have helped us to help you in better way - good luck.
Hope it helps you. Wish you a good health.
