Hi,
Diabetic neuropathy is a well known complication of
diabetes. It generally is with raised levels of sugar. It may be controlled by control of diabetes. However, in some cases, the damage may be permanent and neuropathy is not completely treated even with normal sugar control, analgesics and nerve tonics. Limbs are one of the common involvement in diabetic neuropathy called
peripheral neuropathy. It can affect legs, feet, arms, hand, fingers and toes.
Charcot joint is the damage to joints by diabetes. Damage to nerves, muscles and bone of joints can give rise to painful joints as well as swelling of joints. As a result ankle, foot. hip, pelvis, hands, fingers, elbow and shoulder joints may be involved commonly. If common analgesics and anti-inflammatory drugs are not effective, then certain nerve supplements like
Pregabalin or
Methylcobalamin etc., have to be taken under guidance of your doctor.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
