What Could Pain In Stomach And Frequent Urination In A Child Indicate?
My grandson is 6 years old. He is complaining of a stomach ache in his abdomen. He does not have the need to throw up, however. He said he has been feeling this way for a week. He also is experiencing frequent urination. (Just a Note: He was born with part of his large intestine not developing completely. He underwent surgery and was in the hospital for 17 days. He has had NO health problems since infancy. At the time of his surgery, the doctors told us that he would never have a weight problem. He is thin but has a normal appetite.) I am concerned about the frequent urination and lingering stomach ache. Thank you, Claudia Crone
Hello,Thanks for posting in HCM. Increased frequency of urination with pain abdomen is due to Urinary tract infection. Kindly get your urine tested for Urine routine examination which would include Urine Sugar, Urine albumin and Urine microscopy. You can also rule out other conditions. If some abnormality is noted in the form of presence of RBCs and increased number of pus cells, you need to get Urine culture and sensitivity test done. It says you have urinary tract infection and has to be given a course of appropriate antibiotics. Abdomen scanning also must as it can rule out other causes like stones.Once the infection comes down, urinary continence will be there. Take care
